1,4-Dioxane is an excellent organic solvent with a wide range of uses. It can be used as a solvent for cellulose acetate and many resins. It is mainly used as an extractant in the pharmaceutical industry, as a stabilizer in the production of 1,1,1-trichloroethane, and as a volatile solvent in the production of polyurethane synthetic leather, replacing dimethyl amide and tetrahydrofuran. It is used as a stripping agent in coating and paint processes. It is used as a solvent and dispersant in the dye industry. It is used as a stabilizer in printing inks.
