1. 2-Hydroxyl Ethyl Methacrylate (HEMA) is mainly used for the modification of resins and coatings. Its copolymerization of other acrylic monomers can produce acrylic resins with active hydroxyl groups in the side chains, perform esterification reaction and cross-linking reactions, synthesize insoluble resin and improve adhesion, and be used as a fiber treatment agent. It co-reacts with melamine-formaldehyde (or urea-formaldehyde) resins, epoxy resins, etc. to manufacture two-component coatings. When added into limousine paints, it can maintain a long-term mirror gloss. It can also be used as a monomer to synthesize textile adhesives and medical polymers.

2. hydroxyethyl methyl acrylate is used as a cross-linking monomer for the manufacture of solvent or emulsion acrylate adhesives. Due to the fact that it contains polymeric vinyl bonds and active hydroxyl groups, it is easily homogenized to form a soft resin with excellent gloss, transparency, and weather resistance, and is used as a contact lens material. It is also used in the production of photosensitive resins, medical polymer materials, and thermosetting coatings. It reacts with melamine-formaldehyde resin and epoxy resin to make two-component coatings for high-class cars. It can also be used as a modifier for fibers, non-woven fabric processing resins, paper processing resins.
