Application
- Control the activity of T cell
- Block the cytotoxicity,mediated by T lymphocyte.
- Prevent antibacterial against gram positive and negative bacteria.
- Possess antimicrobial activity and inhibit xanthine oxidase.
Chemical Constituents and Components
- Chebulagic acid, chebulinic acid, corilagin, beta-sitosterol, gallic acid, ellagic acid, ethyl gallate, tannic acid, galloyl glucose & chebulaginic acid.
Tannins Action
- It is a potent suppressor of T cell activity.
- It blocks the cytotoxicity, mediated by cytotoxic T lymphocyte.
- It shows antibacterial activity against gram positive and negative bacteria.
- It possesses antimicrobial activity and inhibits xanthine oxidase.
- It shows strong scavenging activity against free radicals and inhibites reactive oxygen species production from leucocytes.
Curing Diseases
- It is useful in gastropathy, flatulence and other stomach problems.
- It is useful in inflammations, wounds, ulcers and haemorrhoids.
- It is used in cough, hiccough and pharyngodynia.
- It is useful in jaundice, vesical and renal claculi, hepatopathy and splenopathy.
- It is used in treatment of jaundice, dysentery, urinary tract infections and immunological disorders.
Functions
- In treatment of protracted cough due to deficiency of the lung , it is often used with herbs for reinforcing the lung to stop coughing, such as Radix Codononsis Pilosulae, Radix Astragali seu Hedysari, Radix Ophiopogonis, Fructus Schisandrae, Semen Armeniacae Amarum, etc.
- In treatment of cough due to phlegm-fire, it is used with herbs for clearing heat and resolving phlegm, such as Radix Scutellariae, Fructus Trichosanthis, Bulbus Fritillariae, etc.
- To treat chronic cough and hoarseness, it is used with Radix Platycodi and Radix Glycyrrhizae to benefit the throat and recover the voice
