Alginate Wound Dressing

Alginate wound dressing is an advanced moist wound dressing, composed of biodegradable, highly absorbent alginate fiber which is derived from seaweed, available in flat and rope patterns. On contact with exudate, these dressings form a moist gel through a process of ion exchange. Alginate for wounds are soft and conformable, easy to apply in cavity wounds or irregular-shaped wounds. Alginate bandage with excellent absorption and good gel-forming effect. The alginate wound care dressing consisting of calcium alginate, provides superior absorption and is ideally designed for all moderate to heavily exuding both superficial and cavity wounds.

How to Use Calcium Alginate Wound Dressing

Clean the wound with normal saline, gently dip the skin around the wound dry;

When alginate medical film is permeated by exudate, it needs to be replaced in time;

When granulation tissue began to form, the exudate decreased, and the number of medical film replacement decreased accordingly;

In the beginning, the medical film should be changed every day.

Each alginate medical film should not cover the wound for more than seven days.
