Solutions to Water Pump Failure

Leaks and noise are signs of pump failure, which can be caused by ageing and wear or overheating conditions, and are often caused by other faults in the system. It is driven by belts (either dedicated serpentine belts or rarely by timing belts), so proper belt maintenance is critical to its operation.

Leakage

Causes: Improper installation of engine pump water or improper use of sealing gasket.

Solutions: If it is a new water pump, check carefully remove and reinstall the pumps. Strictly abide by the torque specification and ensure seal gasket is in the right condition.

Rust and Corrosion

Causes: Polluted coolant incompatible coolant or a mixture of coolants of different chemical composition

Solutions: Before installing a new pump, flush the cooling system thoroughly. When using sealants, clean the edges and surfaces of parts and apply the new seal evenly along the edges of parts.

Cavitation

Causes: Bubbles form at the coolant inlet of the pump. As the pressure in the system increases, the bubbles can implode and cause damage.

Solution: Replace the pump, Flush the cooling system thoroughly before installing the new pump and refill the system with the correct coolant recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.

Internal-accumulated sediment

Causes: Contaminated coolant incompatible coolant or a mixture of coolants of different chemical composition
