PINARELLO BOLIDE TR ULTEGRA DI2 DISC TT/TRIATHLON BIKE

The frame on the Pinarello Bolide TR Ultegra Di2 Disc TT/Triathlon Bike uses exactly the same technology, aerodynamics and geometry as the TR+, but uses T700 UD carbon instead of T100G. In turn, both bikes are based on the incredibly successful Bolide TT bike, but with some significant improvements enabled without the need for UCI compliance.

Pinarello has been able to increase the fork depth and size of the Fork Flap in order to better smooth the airflow around this area, and the top tube bento box actually improves the aerodynamics when in place, sitting neatly integrated behind the stem (the down tube toolbox also aids aerodynamics and is sold separately).

Although time trial bikes are rarely ridden for long distances, Pinarello has made a number of changes for the Bolide triathlon bike in order to make it more suitable for Ironman length races where the bike leg is 180km long. This means that the athlete needs to be able to maintain an aerodynamically advantageous position for a significant length of time so the longer headtube, lower bottom bracket and steeper seat tube angle all promote speed and efficiency over the full distance.

Shimano's 11-speed Ultegra Di2 electronic groupset gives just a little away in terms of weight to the range-topping Dura-Ace version and virtually nothing in performance, so instant, effortless shifts are just a click away, and light, easily modulated braking is effected by a gentle squeeze on the lever.
